The wisdom teeth or thud moles erupt between the ages 16 – 24. When a wisdom tooth does not have enough space to erupt it gets trapped inside the bone
An impacted wisdom tooth posse’s problem
- In maintaining good oral hygiene
- Can cause pressure and pain on the adjacent teeth and nerves
- Cause headache and other facial pain
- Swelling develops
And wisdom teeth are the last to erupt the ones least needed for chewing and other functions. In most cases it does more harm than good
Two modes of treatment for impacted tooth:
1. Operculectomy : if the tooth is in the right position; process of eruption correct the flap of the gums directly on the tooth can be cut (trimmed) to facilitate eruption
